Meet the Team

Our team are highly trained in many areas and are happy to look after your general health and more specific requirements.  We are dedicated to listening to you, discussing your physical and mental concerns in an honest and open fashion. We will provide you with up to date, evidence-based medical advice to make informed choices when it comes to managing your health.

​The practice is also a training practice for specialist trainees in general practice from the Irish College of General Practitioners training scheme. These trainees are qualified experienced doctors and are undertaking further experience and training in general practice. They remain in the practice from periods of 6 months to 1 year.

Dr Derek Casey

Dr Casey qualified from UCD Medical School in 2016 and trained as a GP on the South East GP Training Scheme before joining Cappoquin Health Centre in 2020. He is from Kilmacthomas in Co Waterford. Dr Casey has a special interest in Chronic Disease Management and Musculoskeletal Medicine. He has additional qualifications in Joint Injections, Geriatric Medicine and Practice Management. Dr Casey is a GP Trainer for the South Eastern Training Scheme. When not at work, his hobbies include keeping fit, gardening and sports.

Dr Imran Khan

MBBS MCPS - IMC No: 431955

Dr Khan qualified in Khyber Medical University in 2017. He is originally from Pakistan and has a special interest in Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine, with additional qualifications in this area. He has been working at Cappoquin Health Centre since 2023. Dr Khan enjoys playing tennis, badminton and is also a keen cricket fan.

Dr Daire Nevin Maguire

Dr Nevin Maguire recently returned from New Zealand, but is originally from Cheekpoint in Waterford.  She completed her studies in University College Cork and RCSI, Dublin and has post graduate qualifications in Paediatrics and Women’s health. Dr Nevin Maguire joined the team at Cappoquin in April 2024. When not at work, she can be found enjoying the great outdoors, exploring local eateries and petting local dogs.

Nurse Bernie Lonergan

Practice Nurse

Nurse Bernie is from Clonmel, Co Tipperary and has been working at Cappoquin Health Centre since 2020. Bernie’s job as a nurse sees her doing a lot of different tasks such as phlebotomy, smear taking, wound dressings, performing ECGs and fitting 24 hour blood pressure monitors.

Other duties include childhood immunisations and travel vaccinations. When not at work, Bernie's hobbies are travelling, watching her beloved Tipperary play hurling and reading.

Pat Fennelly
FCMA, Practice Manager

Pat is our practice manager and he is a chartered management accountant. A proud Tipperary man, when not working his hobbies include following the GAA and spending time with family.

We have three excellent secretaries at Cappoquin Health Centre:

 

Sarah joined our team in January 2020 and is our lead secretary.

 

Brenda joined our team in March 2020. As well as doing secretarial duties, Brenda is also a trained phlebotomist and helps out with the blood clinic once a week.

​

Lorraine joined our team in August 2021.
